Becoming a Leader

Exercise: Management & Leadership – Stage III

  • In Becoming a Leader

So, you completed stage I and stage II of the exercise, that’s great!

I now ask you to select at least 3 and maximum 5 of your Leadership key words. Chose the associations which you identify with the most, chose your personal top values or attributes.

These words will become important stepstones and they will be part of your answer to the question “What are your leadership values?”

We are not done yet. For each of your 3 to 5 top words* you now develop answers to these two questions (on new pages of your Travel Journal):

  •  What does * mean to you? Give it your individual definition.
  • Do you have an example, where you showed/practiced/observed * ? Bring your value to life, ideally with more than one real life example.

Another dimension of this exercise could be to involve a peer or mentor in this process. This way you add more perspectives, get feedback and come across more challenging questions.

As a result of this process in the last weeks you can rely on giving a reflected and probably convincing statement on your leadership values.

Thanks for walking with me on this stage of your LeaderTrail!
